What is Botox?

Botox is an FDA approved cosmetic treatment for wrinkles and frown lines visible on the face, especially in the forehead. This cosmetic treatment is among the most extensively studied medical aesthetic treatments and is highly approved in 78 countries across the world. This is a popular facial cosmetic treatment today which is patronized by many especially celebrities.

How Does It Work?

Its effect will temporarily make the skin look younger, smoother, and elastic by blocking the nerves that cause the facial muscles to sag and become wrinkled. The Botox injection site is usually on the frown line that is formed in between the brows, the muscles that are found on the frames of the side of the eyes, and on the forehead where the wrinkles usually form. Cosmetic specialists administer a total of 5 injections into the forehead’s muscles, and 3 on the crow’s feet area (side of the eyes). The purified Botulinum solution in Botox will lightly paralyze the muscles in the said areas, eliminating the presence of wrinkles and fine lines.

Why Botox?

Botox has been proven to be the most effective and safest cosmetic treatment for wrinkles. It has an immediate effect as it will make your skin look younger within 24 to 48 hours upon application. The effect usually last for four to six month, which is why it’s a cosmetic treatment that needs continuous maintenance if you want your skin to always look at its best.  If you want an instant solution to your aging skin and fine wrinkles, Botox is the cosmetic treatment that you need.

What to Expect?

For starters, before the administration of the treatment, the specialist will determine the areas on the face of the patient where this treatment is appropriate. Botox is administered into the superficial layer of your skin by subdermal injection, so, you should expect to feel a pinch on your skin. Some specialists may apply ice on the Botox injection site to numb the area, making it less painful for the patient. For those who prefer a more medical approach in numbing the injection site, patients can ask for numbing cream instead of ice.

There are no known adverse effects of the treatment. Usually after the Botox injection, patients can proceed with their regular day to day routine without any special precautions.
